We are proud to have Fernanda Monteon Ibarra, MSN,RN, AGACNP-­‐BC as our nurse practitioner as she brings more than a decade of patient-care and clinical experience to our practice. She joined Advanced Gastroenterology, Inc. in October of 2020. She has been an excellent addition to our team as she not only has the knowledge of clinical practice of medicine, but she also brings in a wealth of knowledge and experience in a patient-centric manner. She adheres to the same principals as Dr. Simoni and AGI’s Mission which is to build patient trust and to be the catalyst for a healthier lifestyle through prevention, early detection and our innovative approach to GI care. In addition to above qualities, she has an amazing bedside manner, is open to all means of communication with patients, and is extremely responsiveness to the needs of our patients.

Fernanda graduated from Glendale Community College in 2007 where she earned her Associates Degree in Nursing and while working full time she returned to Western Governors University in 2013 to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in an accelerated program. As RN she worked in the Intensive Care Unit as a bedside nurse then worked in the Special Needs Program as a Nurse Case Manager/Coordinator for high-risk patients with chronic conditions (CHF, COPD, Diabetes, ESRD). In this role, disease management was a key focus obtaining health risk assessments, providing education, and close management to prevent hospitalizations. Fernanda’s most recent RN experience is with the Structural Heart Team at Ronald Reagan UCLA coordinating care for TAVR patients.

Fernanda earned her Masters of Science in Nursing in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program (AGACNP) from UCLA in 2019. During this time,she co-founded and served as Vice-President for the UCLA Latin@ Nursing Student-Alumni Association (LANSA).

Fernanda is a member of the nursing organization Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and the American Nurses Association (ANA). She is Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Fernanda is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS stroke.
